SF Giants

One mention is all it takes to get every SF Giants fan excited, myself included. Whenever there was a game, if I couldn’t go, I would either watch it on TV or follow it online.

However, it wasn’t always the case.

When I was growing up, I didn’t watch baseball because I wasn’t into sports, let alone baseball. It wasn’t until middle school that I learned more about baseball in physical education class. That was the introduction I needed.

When I started high school, I learned more about the local teams, the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland A’s. During A’s junior or senior year of high school, I was trying to decide between the Giants and the A’s. It took a while to settle, but once one of my best friends, who is a season ticket holder, used artful persuasion to convince me that the Giants knew what it would take to win, I chose the SF Giants.

For the next several years, I followed them through the highs and the lows. Then it happened. Finally, in 2010, the SF Giants won their first World Series against the Texas Rangers. It was their first win since relocating to San Francisco in 1958.

Then, for the first time in 2019, I was able to go to my first baseball game with a friend who first convinced me. It was a magical moment after seeing that first game against the Rockies and winning. By then, they had two more World Series wins, and there was no doubt I would be a lifelong fan.
