How I Came To Like Writing

Nineteen years and eighteen teachers. Among the teachers I had, some stood out more than others. However, one stands out in my mind. Before I mention the marvelous teacher, I would like to give you some of my previous experience with writing.

One thing was for sure I disliked the most was writing. When essay writing began in the fifth grade, I had a real-time. From then on, I decided I was not too fond of writing.

I struggled with writing throughout middle and high school. My eighth-grade teacher recognized my struggles and helped me to the best of her ability, but I still did not enjoy writing. I struggled in high school, especially in the first two years. My English teacher in my junior year, Ms. K., took her time to help me, and that helped. However, my AHA moment came during my senior year. My senior year was when I took Creative Writing with Ms. Maria Angelone. That year she took the whole class on a writing adventure. The way she taught it was extraordinary. I learned more about different writing genres, and we had much writing going on. Ms. Angelone encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone regarding writing.

Now I enjoy writing, and it is all thanks to Ms. Maria Angelone!
